In the recent fighting in Gaza, Israel targeted supply tunnels on the border with Egypt. Some of the tunnels are used to smuggle weapons into Gaza. But others are used to bring in food and other essentials for the Palestinians living there.
Supplies have been scarce since Israel began a strict blockade in 2007, after Hamas took over the territory by force. Reporter Daniel Estrin visited the Egypt-Gaza border, where there are about 500 of these tunnels ... and he found tunnel operators busy at work. |
