| In the 1980’s Romania was roundly criticized for warehousing its abandoned babies in state-run orphanages. Now, you can find them in hundreds of maternity hospitals. In part two of her reports from Romania, Peggy Wehmeyer says there are programs underway in Romania to build bonds between mother and child and end the cultural practice of simply abandoning unwanted children. |
