Hainan Runner
Listen to the:
As athletes prepare to descend on Beijing for the 2008 Olympic games in August, an eight-year old girl from Hainan Island runs up to 28-miles a day -- training for the 2016 Olympics. Critics accuse her father of exploiting the girl and pushing her too hard. But little Zhang Huimin says she just loves to run. She made headlines in China when she ran from Hainan Province to Beijing -- a distance of more than 2,100 miles -- in just 54 days. That’s like running from New York City to Phoenix, AZ in less than two-months. Jennifer Dunn reports.
