Uma Singh was a 26-year-old radio reporter from Nepal who was dedicated to speaking up for people who had no voice. She reported on the indignities suffered by members of the lower caste in Nepal. She also covered many stories about the unfairness of Nepal's dowry system.
Singh paid a dear price for her courageous reporting. Several days ago, a group of men broke into her home in the southern city of Janakpur and killed her. Her murder is the latest in a series of attacks on journalists in Nepal. |
