Artist Soloman Muyundo - aka Solo 7- stands by one of his hand painted signs calling for brotherhood near his studio in the Kibera sum, Nairobi. Since violence flared up last December, Solo 7 has painted more than 3,000 signs across the slum.

| Peace is slowly returning to Kenya after a flawed presidential election in December sparked deadly intertribal violence. Amid the burned out shops and homes in Nairobi’s largest slum are white, hand-painted signs promoting peace and brotherhood. Residents of the slum say the signs have had a calming effect on them. The signs are the work of an artist who simply tags his work with “Solo 7.” Reporter Richard Lough went to meet him. |
