| Hunger kills more people each year than AIDS, malaria and TB combined. And though most people who suffer from hunger live in developing countries, the problem exists right here in America. The latest figures show one in ten people in the U.S. suffers from hunger. And one out of every five children goes to bed hungry at night. That’s in a country where more than 96 billion pounds of food are wasted every year. Host Peggy Wehmeyer talks with Stan Curtis, founder of USA Harvest, a volunteer organization that collects leftover food from restaurants and hotels and distributes it to hungry Americans in 127 cities. |
