| Doctors and nurses at the University of New Mexico Hospital wear uniforms that may do good. Their hospital gowns, or “scrubs,” are brightly colored, hand-dyed imports from South Africa. Host Peggy Wehmeyer talks with Dr. Theresa Smith de Cherif who set up a factory in Cape Town hiring women with tuberculosis or HIV-AIDS to sew the scrubs that are sold in the U.S. The money raised is donated to orphanages in Africa. |
