| Big mining companies in Bolivia doubled their profits last year. But most miners in Bolivia don’t work for the big companies. They work in collectives, digging together and share the costs and profits. But their hunt for zinc and lead is without government oversight and working conditions are so dangerous the average miner in Bolivia has a life expectancy of only 45 years. Mary Stucky reports. |
