Group/Family Leader Training:
Our Group/Family Leader Training has been developed by people who have years of experience in community ministry. The perspective you will receive is one based on a work that has been ongoing in the North Central West Virginia Region and is combined with over 50 years of World Vision's ministry experience worldwide. The training focuses on transformational community development. This is a unique chance to learn some of the best practices in community development in the country, all of which are transferable to your own community. You will also come away with specific tools to help prepare your team for ministry both on site and when they return home. The curriculum, which incorporates new activities every year, in a three year cycle, includes:
- Cross Cultural Familiarization
- Team Building
- Conflict Management
- Debriefing Principles
- The re-entry process
The training is April 24-25, 2009 in Philippi, West Virginia. We require at least one leader from your group participate in the Group/Family Leader Training. If this is your group’s first World Vision Appalachia Mission Project, we require one person (the group leader) attend the training, and strongly recommend that you send another person as well. Vital information such as your project details, Summer Adventure (VBS) information, and other project specifics will be given to your representative(s) at the training. You will also be able to meet other group leaders and get a feel for the type of community in which you will be working.
The cost for one leader, including room and board and materials, is included in the cost of your project. Each additional participant is $125. |
