| In Mozambique, a young child says “I have lost my school…Can you get me a new one? And a book and a pencil?”. Severe flooding over the past year has damaged much of Mozambique’s infrastructure, destroying farms, homes and schools. World Vision is working hard to help rebuild the lived of Mozambicans, constructing new roads and buildings. And with your help, the pleas of the child above are being answered. School kits were recently distributed in Mozambique, giving many children the otherwise impossible opportunity to attend school. In a nation where the majority of people are | | |

illiterate, having reading and writing skills is a huge advantage. The majority of Mozambicans are farmers and rely on the land for their livelihood, so the flood literally demolished their source of income. However, with a basic education, a child can gain technical or vocational skills and a job that will enable him of her to be less reliant on the unpredictable weather patterns of Southern Africa. The children of Mozambique thank you for giving them “a book and a pencil,” and with these items, hope for a better tomorrow.
