  "Jeff and his nine year old son needed a place to live. His wife had kicked them out of the apartment. Love INC put them up in a motel near the boy's school so he could continue school uninterrupted. The cost for one week, plus food and some utensils, was provided by a Love INC Church. Jeff filed for AFDC benefits but couldn't get them immediately. A church volunteer helped find him and his son an affordable apartment in the area while Jeff found himself a part-time job. Their new landlady was very much taken with the boy and treated him as a grandson. The church volunteer invited them to worship and they are now members of that church.
  
  "Jeff accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. Soon, Jeff obtained a full-time job and got off welfare."
  

• Existing resources are not adequate to meet growing levels of need. The cost of providing services continues to rise. Money to provide services is scarce.
  
• Church volunteers are seldom utilized to maximum potential in meeting the needs of the poor.
  

1. Requests for help are received.
2. Requests are screened for nature and extent of need and legitimacy.
3. People are referred to the most appropriate source of help; i.e., a specialized agency, an area-helping organization, or a local church volunteer.
4. The clearinghouse follows up with the person helped to offer spiritual support through a local church.

• There is an untapped army of volunteers in local churches who are ready, willing, and able to help those in need.
  
• Love INC gives believers a safe, manageable opportunity to put their Christian faith and love to work in the service of these people.
  

• People in need. Love INC provides sources of help.
  
• The local church. Love INC works for the church by:
  
  1. Helping congregations organize for ministry.
  2. Giving congregations safe, manageable opportunities to serve.
• Community service agencies. Love INC provides a virtual army of church volunteers able to supplement agency efforts.
