Chip Huber and Wheaton Academy
Chip Huber is the Dean of Spiritual and Student Life, and soccer coach at Wheaton Academy, a Christian high school in the Chicago suburb of West Chicago. Through Chip's leadership, the students at Wheaton have raised more then $285,000 in the last four years. The school has partnered with World Vision to build a school and maternity clinic in Zambia, to provide medical supplies, and to bring food security to one African village. Chip and his leadership team of students have raised the money through auctions, penny drives, a 5k run, and personal sacrifice: this Christmas many students will again give up their own Christmas gifts and ask instead to receive money to send to their World Vision project in Zambia.

FK and Leah Day - World Bicycle Relief

Chicagoans FK and Leah Day saw a great need in the aftermath of last year's Tsunami and wanted to respond. A seed of an idea to donate 100 used bikes blossomed into a $1.7 million campaign that will provide over 24,000 regionally manufactured bicycles to families affected by the Tsunami. These bikes, distributed by World Vision Sri Lanka, are invaluable to families, giving them mobility and independence. Even FK, VP of prdouct development for SRAM Corp, after distributing bikes to families in Sri Lanka said, "I didn't realize the impact these bicycles could have on people who really have nothing." Kathleen Pappas - KidREACH Tutoring
Kathleen Pappas, a 23-year-old from Carol Stream, is a committed tutor on the west side of the city. Every other week, she spends her Saturday morning tutoring children at Sonrise Missionary Baptist Church, a partner of World Vision. But Kathleen's commitment is not confined to Saturdays. She has recruited 5 other tutors already this year and is not afraid to ask her friends, family and coworkers to donate new or used items for the kids to use.It is Kathleen’s love for the kids that motivates her to do what she does. “I want to help people better their lives, and I found this to be a really good opportunity to do that.” She wants other people to know how much they can impact a child by tutoring for a few hours each month. “The kids say they want to do something, like be a scientist, but they don’t really believe they can achieve this goal. They need people to tell them that they can do it and show them how.”
