How long does one kit last?
A single kit generally fills a student’s needs for three to four months, depending on his/her grade level. A school session, however, typically lasts for six months. This means that students rely on at least two kits each year. SchoolTools is always in need of more kits—to meet the needs of the students already benefiting from the program, and to allow new children to attend school for the first time.

Why were these supplies chosen?
The
Inventory List includes specific items that are the most essential supplies needed by children up to 6th grade. Our goal is to get children into school, and to do so at minimal cost to our donors.

Where are SchoolTools kits distributed?
The kits are sent to 22 countries, including the United States, Kosovo, Romania, Thailand, Albania, Niger, Georgia, Swaziland, Nicaragua, Honduras, Mozambique, Mauritania, Sri Lanka, El Salvador, Chile, Lebanon, Chad, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Zambia and Vietnam.

How are these countries selected?
All national offices receive a letter from World Vision’s United States (WVUS) office asking if any of their development sites in their countries are in need of school supplies. Countries reply to WVUS and ask to be a part of the program. WVUS then processes their requests by supplying them with the kits they need.

Can I give more than what is included on the inventory list?
While this is a generous gesture, we want to make sure each child receives the same items. We prefer all kits to be uniform, each having the same quality and type of product requested on the
Inventory List only. This way, each child receives equal treatment and no one is left out. However, you are welcome to make a separate financial donation to help further support the SchoolTools program.

Who is able to participate in assembling SchoolTools kits?
Everyone! SchoolTools is open to anyone willing to support the program.

What about organizations that are not Christian-based or associated with a home school organization?
Our desire is to bring school supplies to children in need. Since the demand for school kits is greater than the supply, we appreciate support from everyone. Education should be available to everyone, regardless of religious beliefs or ethnic background.

Can we assemble kits more than once?
Yes! We put no limit on your organization for the number of kits you want to put together for SchoolTools. Because school begins at different times of the year in different places, we accept kits any time of the year. Once you’ve registered on our web site, you don’t have to register again.
To Register, click here. If you can’t remember your group registration number, please e-mail us at SchoolTools@worldvision.org and include the name, address, and phone number of your organization. We’ll get right back to you.

How will I know if you have received the kits I’ve assembled?
Please enclose one Packing Slip (included on this Web site) in each carton of kits you send to us, and write your group’s registration number on the Mailing Label. This way we will be able to send you a follow-up letter confirming our receipt of the kits and sharing how SchoolTools is
Helping Children in the U.S. and Worldwide.

Can I choose where the kits I assemble are sent?
There are so many countries that have a need for SchoolTools kits that World Vision prefers to send to those in the most need. These countries may have experienced a natural disaster or have a high percentage of children at risk, and the children are at risk for not receiving an education without the assistance SchoolTools provides.
