The need for school supplies
World Vision provides school supplies to children, families, and teachers in the U.S. who face the burden of not having the resources needed for school:
- 40% of all fourth graders in the U.S. qualify for free or reduced lunch
- 1 in 3 children in the U.S. are a year or more behind in school
- Children living in poverty are 6 times as likely to drop out of school
World Vision is currently serving communities in the following 10 locations in the U.S.: Chicago, Detroit, north Texas, Los Angeles, Minneapolis/St. Paul, New York, Appalachia, Seattle/Tacoma, southwest Georgia, and Washington, D.C.
How you can help
1. Collect SchoolTools kits at your workplace (through employees or customers)
2. Donate (give a corporate gift and/or sponsor a “virtual SchoolTools drive”)
- $15,000 Provides enough school supplies for an entire elementary school
- $750 Provides enough school supplies for an entire classroom
- $25 Provides one child with a backpack full of supplies and ongoing supplies throughout the school year
