Wolter, pastor of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thelutheranhome.org\/\">Lutheran Home and Harwood Place<\/a><\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. &ldquo;While our residents are limited in many areas of their lives, they are more than glad to support the work of the Gospel <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&mdash; <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">both at home and around the world through their offerings.&rdquo;<\/span><span data-ccp-props='{\"201341983\":0,\"335559739\":160,\"335559740\":259}'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">This fellowship of women and men are among the generous givers who&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">choos<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">e<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;gifts through the <a href=\"https:\/\/donate.worldvision.org\/giftcatalog\">World Vision Gift Catalog<\/a>&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">to help&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">lift<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> families out of poverty.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"pullquote pullquote--full\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">While our residents are limited in many areas of their lives, they are more than glad to support the work of the Gospel <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&mdash; <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">both at home and around the world through their offerings<\/span>.<cite class=\"attribution\">&mdash;Pastor Derek M. Wolter<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&ldquo;Residents quickly fell in love with goats and their benefit to families in need,&rdquo; Wolter&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">says<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. &ldquo;They are cheerful partners in supporting our brothers and sisters around the world.&rdquo;<\/span><span data-ccp-props='{\"201341983\":0,\"335559739\":160,\"335559740\":259}'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">For the last two years, they&rsquo;ve gathered their 25-cent bingo wins and&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">$1<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;personal donations to gift goats through the World Vision Gift Catalog. Since 2017, residents have gifted 98 goats by contributing $9,270<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-ccp-props='{\"201341983\":0,\"335559739\":160,\"335559740\":259}'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">G<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ifting goats bring a multitude of blessings<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;The milk provides&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">protein and nourishment to help children grow<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;and goats help diversi<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">f<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">y a family&rsquo;s&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">income<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-ccp-props='{\"201341983\":0,\"335559739\":160,\"335559740\":259}'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&ldquo;This, by far, is our most popular mission outreach,&rdquo; says Carey Bartlett, spokeswoman for Lutheran Home and Harwood Place. Mission outreach offerings are collected on the fourth and fifth Sundays of the month<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;and on holidays<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">including<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and Easter.<\/span><span data-ccp-props='{\"201341983\":0,\"335559739\":160,\"335559740\":259}'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Two residents, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Ruth Reitz and Wally Kruger,&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">who ha<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ve<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;since passed away, had championed the cause.<\/span><span data-ccp-props='{\"201341983\":0,\"335559739\":160,\"335559740\":259}'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&ldquo;The loving<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> Ruth &mdash; <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">who has since passed<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;&mdash;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;was the initial backer of this ministry,&rdquo;&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">says<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Carey<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;&ldquo;She was interested in world missions. She felt we should support causes that helped people meet the needs of their families through&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">some kind of interactive<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;source.&rdquo;<\/span><span data-ccp-props='{\"201341983\":0,\"335559739\":160,\"335559740\":259}'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Another former resident, Wally Krueger, grew up on a farm and was&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">also&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">committed&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">to the cause<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.
