The death toll rose to 90, including <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/tornadoes-environment-and-nature-kentucky-weather-459b82e36c25ee4a1d81c3a82cb63847\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">77 in Kentucky<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Kentucky Gov. Eight people were confirmed dead, and eight others missing. Company officials said 90 others had been located.<\/li>\n<li>In southern Illinois, where a partial <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/tornadoes-technology-business-workplace-safety-illinois-a5238e8413ae999ce30a183d5ac3c62d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">building collapse at an Amazon facility<\/a> reportedly killed six workers and hospitalized another,<\/li>\n<li>In northeastern Arkansas, where at least two people died, another five were injured, and at least 20 were trapped after a nursing home collapsed, according to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/markets\/commodities\/many-trapped-two-dead-tornado-hits-nursing-home-arkansas-media-2021-12-11\/?taid=61b4ee2d4bd3090001f05e74&amp;utm_campaign=trueAnthem:+Trending+Content&amp;utm_medium=trueAnthem&amp;utm_source=twitter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reuters<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-size: 13px;\"><a href=\"#questions\">BACK TO QUESTIONS<\/a><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"develop\">How did the storms develop?<\/h2>\n<p>The twisters were part of a weather system that also caused snowfall in the upper Midwest and western Great Lakes.<\/p>\n<p>It originated in Arkansas and moved to Missouri and Tennessee before barreling through Kentucky, according to Michael Dossett, director of the Kentucky Division of Emergency Management.<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"\/disaster-relief-news-stories\/tornado-facts\">Learn more about tornado facts and how to prepare<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 13px;\"><a href=\"#questions\">BACK TO QUESTIONS<\/a><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"response\">How is World Vision responding to the tornadoes?<\/h2>\n<p>World Vision responded immediately. We deployed a convoy of three truckloads of relief supplies from our Chicago and Dallas warehouses to churches in Kentucky and other locations impacted by the tornadoes. Supplies include food, disinfectant wipes, hand sanitizer, bleach, Family Emergency Kits, hygiene kits, personal care items, diapers, heaters, blankets, solar lights, coolers, mini-refrigerators, and toys.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We are just trying to be hands and feet of Jesus Christ,&rdquo; <a href=\"https:\/\/fb.watch\/9TntBRYZKB\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said Pastor Derrick Scobey<\/a> of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma &mdash; a World Vision partner. He joined relief efforts in Kentucky, where a shipment of critical supplies was being readied for impacted families in Mayfield, Kentucky.<\/p>\n<p>Karima Bright lives in Mayfield, one of the hardest-hit communities. She and her 7-year-old grandson survived the terrifying storm by sheltering inside their home&rsquo;s only closet.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;He was so scared,&rdquo; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/kentucky-tornado-couple-survives-sheltering-in-closet-with-7-year-old-grandson\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Karima told &ldquo;CBS Evening News.&rdquo;<\/a> &ldquo;I said, &lsquo;We&rsquo;re going to be okay. We&rsquo;re going to make it. Just hold on, hold on, hold on.&rsquo;&rdquo; Karim credits God for saving them.
