Mei Wen and her father Zhen on a trip outside of their village, Mine Mountain, in Hebei Province. Zhen and his wife Li Ya were both diagnosed as HIV positive in 2003, a decade after Li Ya received a transfusion from a contaminated blood bank. Mei Wen has since dropped out of school to help care for her ailing parents.

|In China, hundreds of thousands of children have parents infected with HIV. In the nation's rural regions, the stigma surrounding AIDS is so severe it affects not only the infected adults, but also their children. They face rejection from their friends and communities, uncertainties about their futures, and new responsibilities in the home.
