Mention “California” and people think of movie stars and the entertainment industry. But California also produces half the fruits and vegetables grown in this country. An estimated one million farm workers till the fields and orchards of the Golden State. It’s a world away from the glitz and glamour of Hollywood, but it was a strong attraction for former screenwriter and photographer Rick Nahmias. He took his camera and went to the fields to document the lives of migrant workers. The result is a book and exhibit called The Migrant Project. He spoke with the World Vision Report’s Peggy Wehmeyer about his work.
