0:00   this is the Bacara Valley in Lebanon a place where over a million Syrian
0:09   refugees have fled across the border to escape the violence in their homeland
0:14   what’s life like here the world does not care about you you live on the ragged
0:22   edge of a fraying society it’s a place no one wants to go and even pure are
0:28   able but it’s here where you can encounter Jesus at work among those with
0:34   the greatest needs like Ali’s family le13 barely survived Syria before he
0:45   arrived at this refugee tent camp he saw things that no child should ever see it
0:52   began in $MONTH 2011 violence grew into a bloody conflict
0:58   families were forced to flee or risk being caught in the crossfire families
1:03   like Ali’s it was slaughtering people with knives one had a gun shot in the
1:09   back of his head
1:11   another one has throat slit there were fireworks 10 dead in ways like being
1:16   shot in the head
1:19   this is where he lives now haunted by images he can’t get out of his head
1:26   it’s hard and can’t forget because I saw it with my own eyes and scared and
1:34   that’s what was going on my mother took us and we fled now this valley has
1:40   become home to thousands of refugee families they yearn for an end to the
1:45   war so they can rebuild their lives in Syria Ali’s family survived when so many
1:51   others died but now they face new challenges
1:55   instead of going to school everyday Ali’s forced to work
2:00   it’s very hard on his month
2:05   every morning he goes to work and choking and my heart breaks I used to
2:12   play and go to school in Syria anywhere it would be better than this
2:21   my father is sick and he can’t work my brother and I go to work I said everyday
2:28   issues biscuits things like that Ali’s out here unsupervised vulnerable making
2:38    just four dollars on a good day they asked me how are doing and they say
2:43   we’re doing badly to the dietician from me and tell me to go it’s difficult to
2:50   see only like this but i wonder how is jesus calling us to respond not just too
2:57   early but to all refugee children
3:02   this is a World Vision child-friendly space some children arrived so
3:08   distraught that they can’t even speak but here they can play learn and begin
3:14   healing after years of witnessing violence and death
3:18   this is a place where kids can just be kids in this place
3:25   children can be happy and safe racing songs about health friendship and hope
3:32   it has a huge impact on their lives
3:41   meanwhile families like all these still struggle they need your help
3:47   this is our whole this is what it’s like for my family for Ali and for so many
3:55   others please help
3:58   God’s love runs deep for each child affected by this violence they are his
4:05   children in Matthew 25 40 Jesus says truly I tell you whatever you did for
4:13   one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine you did for me God
4:20   desires for us to love refugees as he loves them and one powerful way to do
4:26   this is to become a world vision refugee responder
4:31   you’ll help with things like food clean water shelter emergency supplies safe
4:38   places for children and much more you can do this today when you join the
4:44   movement of people becoming World Vision refugee responders helping change the
4:49   future for children like Ali who have been affected by violence and
4:53   destruction but first
4:57   take a moment to reflect and pray for syria
5:02   for Ali for refugee children everywhere
