NEW YORK (July 6, 2015) — World Vision has partnered with NY CityFest with Luis Palau to help local school children during NY CityFest events this week, including concerts on July 7 at Radio City Music Hall and July 10 in Times Square, as well as the massive festival to be held July 11 on the Great Lawn in Central Park in front of 60,000 people. During these events, which will feature performances by Grammy Award-winning musical artists and celebrity speakers, World Vision will be on hand to give attendees an opportunity to donate money for school supplies for local children.

World Vision is partnering with NY CityFest to help bring the Gospel to life in the lives of children around the city, many of whom are not able to purchase necessary school supplies. Going back to school can be intimidating, and not having enough supplies can increase the feeling of intimidation. Getting a new backpack or a new box of crayons can make a huge difference for a child at the beginning of the school year. $10 can fully supply two kids for an entire academic year. Throughout the events, there will be opportunities to text donations or give online to support children’s education in New York City.

“We’re so honored to join with World Vision to help local school children,” says Luis Palau. “Since we began planning for the festival over a year ago, our mission in the five boroughs and surrounding communities with NY CityServe has been to love and serve our neighbors. I can think of no greater outreach than helping local school children, so we are grateful to World Vision for leading those efforts.”

NY CityFest with Luis Palau on July 11 in Central Park will feature musical performances from Grammy Award-winning artists including Mandisa, Toby Mac, Marcos Witt, Israel Houghton, Matt Redman, and Hezekiah Walker, alongside celebrity speakers such as Mariano Rivera and Myrka Dellanos.
