SEATTLE, WA (July 8, 2025) — In response to the devastating flash floods that swept through Central Texas over the weekend, Christian humanitarian organization World Vision has deployed relief teams and supplies to support those impacted by the floods.
More than 160 people have died — including children and counselors from Camp Mystic, a Christian girls’ camp — after torrential rains caused the Guadalupe River to rise 26 feet in just 45 minutes. Scores remain missing as rescue efforts continue, and the Texas governor has declared a multi-county disaster.
World Vision responded immediately, and deployed truckloads of relief supplies from its Grand Prairie warehouse in Texas to local partners in the hardest-hit areas. Supplies include generators, food, cleaning supplies, and toys.
“Our hearts break for the families who lost so much in these floods,” said John Huddle, site manager of World Vision’s Dallas Storehouse. “In moments like this, we’re especially grateful for our local church partners who are the hands and feet of Jesus in this response—meeting people where they are, offering comfort, and helping us deliver supplies as well as hope.”
World Vision also deployed a pastor who has experienced a crisis to the flood zone. The “Pastor Ambassador acts as a spiritual mentor to other pastors, walking alongside them as they help their congregations recover after a disaster,” Huddle explained.
World Vision is working closely with local churches and community partners, including Hunt Baptist Church and Hill Country Daily Bread Ministries, to reach the hardest-hit areas quickly. Relief teams are actively assessing ongoing needs and preparing additional distributions in the days ahead.
