You can bring hope to a child like Phanet!

The first time Phanet entered this classroom, she was a child — a student — whose family wasn’t always able to pay her school fees on time. Now, at age 19, she’s the one holding the chalk.

Phanet is a fifth-grade teacher in rural Cambodia. Her classroom is bursting with the creativity of children. Crafts and posters made by students adorn the walls. Forty-one students call her “teacher.” She still calls one desk in the room her own — the same one she used in first grade.

“My favorite part about teaching?” she says. “Everything.”

She hopes more children in her community will have the same opportunity she did. “[When I had] a sponsor, I consistently had school supplies and other programs supported by World Vision.”
Somewhere tucked away are the letters from her sponsor — reminders of a connection that helped carry her forward.

“I would like to say to my former sponsor, [thank you] for sponsoring me to be where I am now,” she says.
