A well that doesn't run dry, CAIN

For years, CAIN played as many as 150 shows a year. Then Taylor asked the question that stopped everything: “Before we book another tour, do we need to just ask God what we’re supposed to be doing?”

So, they stopped.

From December through April, they stayed off the road, returned to their home church, wrote songs, and lived what they called a normal life. Madison has been honest about how that felt: “This season was very scary for me. I don’t like being bored and I don’t like not knowing what’s happening with our career.” The siblings sat with their questions and faithfully waited for answers.

Out of that season came their newest album’s first single, “Living Water.”

The song opens by naming something almost all of us do: “I could drink from the well of the world until it runs dry”. Success. Approval. Comfort. Control. They are the wells we return to again and again, but they never satisfy. Madison put it plainly:

The heart of this song is that Jesus is the prize, not Jesus giving you the prize. He is it. He’s the prayer you’re praying, the answer you need, the living water.

It echoes the promise Jesus made beside a well in Samaria: the water He gives will satisfy a thirst the world cannot. That promise speaks to the deepest thirst in every human heart. But for hundreds of millions of people, thirst is also painfully physical.

For 703 million people, one in eleven on earth, water isn’t a metaphor for anything.

It is a long walk before school.
A heavy container carried home.
It is 250 million hours a day for women and girls.
It is time taken from learning, working, playing and being together.

World Vision is the world’s leading non-governmental provider of clean water in the developing world. We reach one new person with clean water every ten seconds. And every person who sponsors a child on CAIN’s tour becomes part of this lasting work that helps children, families, and communities gain access to the clean water they need.

This is not new territory for CAIN. During the Live and In Color tours, they invited fans to sponsor children through World Vision, joining the work that includes bringing clean water to children and communities.

Logan said it as clearly as anyone could:  “When I think about Jesus, I think that Jesus is first and foremost about the outsider, and the widow, the orphan, the marginalized and the downtrodden.”

Children and families celebrate clean water flowing in their communities.

This fall, CAIN returns to the road for 25 nights of the Live and In Worship Tour. Each weekend will feature a different worship leader, with space built into the night for the room to pause, pray, and seek God’s face. We’re grateful for partners like CAIN. Our hope is that these nights will lead people to the Living Water and help bring lasting clean water through child sponsorship to children and families around the world.

Some thirst reaches the soul. Some thirst sends a girl walking three miles before school. CAIN is inviting us to respond with worship, compassion, and action.
