Cooking demos improve kids’ nutrition

This is Priyanka, a 22-year-old mom from Jharkhand, a state in eastern India. She started going to World Vision nutriton trainings and cooking demos when she was 6 months pregnant.*

Priyanka gave birth to a healthy baby girl, Pranjali, now 2.5 years old.

The cooking demos and nutrition counseling help moms like Priyanka learn how to use nutritious, local food in their meals.

Moms learn recipes that incorporate chickpea flour, lentils, and grains, plus the importance of eating at least three colors of foods, especially green, yellow, and white.

The recipes are pretty yummy, and children like Harsh eagerly look forward to the samples.

World Vision is working towards training 3,500 mothers in three months and is present in 75 communities, covering 22,974 children at Bokaro District, Jharkhand.
