Why World Vision is in Haiti

Haiti’s build-up of political tensions, violence, poverty, and natural disasters means many communities are struggling to recover, as one problem leads to another or further complicates existing difficulties.

Political tensions continue to surround the 2021 presidential assassination, and gang violence threatens the lives of vulnerable citizens. As many as 2 in 3 people across the nation lack access to clean water. The country is further affected by the Global Hunger Crisis, reaching widespread levels of Crisis, Emergency, and Disaster as labeled by IPC.

With much to respond to, World Vision staff conducted 95 mobile health clinics and reached 3,200 homes with medical visits. Through World Vision and its partners over 135,000 vulnerable children received care and treatments to prevent parasites, and over 3,000 received access to needed vaccinations. More than 8,500 people were reached with clean water so they can keep themselves healthier. Commitment from 27 water, sanitation, and hygiene committees ensures the rehabilitated water sources will be sustained for the long term. To support the well-being of children in schools and help them focus on their education, we provided over 12,000 students with access to hot meals.

We never give up on people

World Vision child sponsorship looks at all the things that prevent children from surviving and thriving in their community, and then works with that community to bring all the pieces of the puzzle together to build a better life for all children. For sponsors, it’s a personal way to show God’s love to a child in need in a life-changing way.
