Why World Vision is in Guatemala
Communities in Guatemala experienced climate-related challenges along with multiple difficulties that stemmed from political tension in the country. This past year, Guatemala endured higher temperatures and a prolonged dry period, which had a direct impact on the production of many crops. The lack of adequate agricultural resources sparked food shortages, affecting 25% of the population. Additionally, tensions from the presidential election impacted the economy, as various demonstrations halted activities and blocked main roads. This instability increased anxiety for many vulnerable communities. In response to these challenges, World Vision equipped families in need with food assistance to improve their food security. And thanks to the staff's adaptability and communication, vulnerable communities continued to be supported even in the midst of political tensions.
We never give up on people
World Vision child sponsorship looks at all the things that prevent children from surviving and thriving in their community, and then works with that community to bring all the pieces of the puzzle together to build a better life for all children. For sponsors, it’s a personal way to show God’s love to a child in need in a life-changing way.
