In observance of International Women’s Day on March 8, World Vision is pleased to launch “Strong Women, Strong World,” a new initiative supporting sustainable change in some of the most difficult places in the world to be a girl or a woman.
World Vision believes that empowering and educating women is an essential part of fighting poverty across the globe.
Sadly, in many parts of the developing world, women aren’t given the opportunity to realize their God-given potential.
They’re often treated as second-class citizens, subject to gender-based discrimination, abuse, and exploitation. In many cases, girls aren’t given the chance to stay in school or pursue their dreams for the future.
Through our Strong Women, Strong World initiative, World Vision seeks to equip women to become active participants in the development of their communities.
We support female entrepreneurs in several countries, helping them to care for their families and create jobs. We train women to play important roles, such as midwives at local clinics. We assist those who are affected by gender-based violence, discrimination, and exploitation.
Finally, we promote gender equity by helping to ensure that girls have what they need to grow up to be strong, productive adults — like access to education, nutritious food, clean water, medical care, and safe shelter.
By empowering girls and women, we fight poverty and help build a better world. In honor of International Women’s Day on March 8, we invite you to join us in taking action.

Please pray for efforts to educate and empower girls and women around the world. Pray that their cultures would view them for the valuable roles they play in building and strengthening their communities.
Make a one-time donation to our Strong Women, Strong World Fund. Your contribution will help protect girls and women and prevent the cycle of abuse, exploitation, and discrimination through interventions like vocational training, education, counseling, small business loans, and other programs that reach women and girls as well as boys — helping to end cycles of abuse and unhealthy beliefs.
Sponsor a girl today. Sponsorship is one of the most powerful ways to equip a girl for a hopeful future. Your love and support will provide her with basics like nutritious food, clean water, safe shelter, and medical care — plus the chance to stay in school and pursue her dreams.
