October 17 is the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, a day to promote awareness of the need to end poverty worldwide. One meaningful way that you can fight poverty is by becoming a child sponsor.
Child sponsor Anne Hicks loves how sponsorship helps the communities where her sponsored children live, and how sponsoring helps keep life in perspective for her own three children.
Pray for children and families affected by poverty. Pray that they would receive access to the essentials that they lack, and that they would acquire the means to establish a sustainable livelihood.
Sponsor a child today. When you sponsor a child, you not only change the life of a child, but you also help the child's entire community become sustainable.
Contact your members of Congress. Urge them to protect funding for programs that help combat extreme poverty, hunger, and disease. There are few places in the U.S. federal budget where dollars translate so directly into lives saved.
